Spotify down: Streaming app suffers major outage – as company confirms ‘issues’ | Science, Climate & Tech News

Spotify is suffering a widespread outage – with the popular music app failing to load for many users.

On X, the streaming service confirmed the disruption, and said: “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!”

Downdetector showed more than 48,000 outage reports for Spotify worldwide at 3pm. Many of those users reported having problems loading the app or playing songs.

“Definitely a gremlin in the works,” one wrote.

Another calm user added: “I NEED MY BACKGROUND MUSIC NOW!!!!!!!”

“We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!” Spotify’s status account wrote on X.

More than 675 million people use Spotify around the world, including 263 million subscribers across over 180 markets worldwide, according to Spotify.
