News anchor George Stephanopoulos is reportedly “miserable” in his hosting role at Good Morning America following the fallout of his defamation suit with President Donald Trump, according to the New York Post. Citing several network sources, the Post reports that Stephanopoulos is rumored to be edging closer toward the exit door with one source claiming that he could leave as soon as this year. “George seems miserable,” the source told the outlet. “He’s definitely gone,” they continued, while suggesting that the network may call it quits in the summer. “He’s a dead man walking for sure,” they added. Another network source, however, completely debunked the claims and rendered them as “nonsense.” “This is nonsense, anyone watching GMA can see he’s engaged, all-in, and as committed as ever,” the source clarified to The Post. “He’s happy to be here,” they added. Rumors regarding Stephanopoulos’ departure were similarly squashed in December last year after the anchor signed a new multiyear contract with ABC News. The network reached a settlement agreement with Trump that same month, after Stephanopoulos inaccurately stated that the president was found civilly liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll in the ‘90s.
