Next James Bond title announced for 007 origin story earning Licence to Kill | Films | Entertainment

As fans eagerly await the announcement of the next James Bond actor and film, an official new 007 mission has been unveiled this week.

IO Interactive, under license from franchise owner Amazon MGM Studios, has been working on the first new official Bond video game since 2012’s 007 Legends.

The developer behind the Hitman games has announced the Nintendo Switch 2 video game’s title will be 007 First Light.

Inspired by Ian Fleming’s novels and the film franchise, the prequel storyline will follow Bond as a young MI6 agent.

If the rookie former Navy Commander successfully completes his mission, he will be granted his Double-O status and the Licence to Kill.

A full game review of 007 First Light will take place during IOI’s Showcase digital presentation on June 6, a day after the Nintendo Switch 2 is launched. The company teased: “Featuring a wholly original Bond origin story, players will step into the shoes of the world’s favourite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status.”
