American Airlines CEO Robert Isom got emotional in a new video published Thursday where he mourned the 67 victims involved in an aircraft collision in Washington, DC Wednesday night. “Today is a devastating day for our American Airlines family,” Isom said in the clip published to X. “The heartbreaking accident of American Eagle Flight 5342 was heavy on our airline, the industry, and the world.” At around 9 p.m. EST Wednesday, a commercial American Airlines flight carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, collided with a U.S. army helicopter carrying three military personnel, near the Ronald Reagan National Airport. While recovery efforts are still ongoing, officials have declared that all 67 individuals are believed to be dead. Isom expressed his gratitude for the National Transportation Safety Board for its ensuing leadership in recovery operations, and reminded families of those involved in the horrific accident that the airline is offering a hotline service (at 1-800-679-8215) for those who need it.
