A North Myrtle Beach police officer has been hospitalized after shooting himself in the leg in response to a crime scene in South Carolina. At least 11 people were hospitalized after a shooting in Little River, South Carolina, on Sunday night, police confirmed. The officer was responding to the incident when he accidentally shot himself at a marina about 3 miles away from the scene, the Associated Press added. The unidentified officer is in hospital in a stable condition. Police have confirmed the shooting–on Watson Avenue near the Intracoastal Waterway in Little River–was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the community. They did not release any information on possible suspects or what led to the shooting. Details of those injured remain unclear, police did not released conditions of the victims or the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. The 11 individuals have been transported to area hospitals, while officials had received reports of other people driving themselves to hospitals in the area, police said. Investigations are continuing.
